Melani King

MGAC, Director of Talent

Melani is a senior recruitment professional with 20 years’ experience recruiting in the construction and real estate market. After many years in an agency environment as well as working inhouse for one of London’s largest construction consultancies, she established her own business and hasn’t looked back. In 2016, Melani set up Heron Partnership which specialises in the recruitment of cost consultants and project managers. Her clients include large, multidisciplinary consultancies as well as small, independent PQS firms. Heron Partnership also operates on an international level, utilising Melani’s network in Australia where she lived for almost 10 years having helped manage a recruitment business in Melbourne.

Guiding people in their career choices and assisting them to navigate their professional path is at the heart of Melani’s profession. Her network in the construction consulting network within London is extensive and her success relies on working with integrity at all times. Her main skills are formed around building and maintaining professional relationships and she can offer great knowledge around personal branding, maintaining motivation and how to get yourself out there. Working for yourself has its challenges and Melani has met and overcome most! Melani has strong experience in managing others having held management roles in the past. She has trained and mentored junior professionals in their career and takes pleasure in seeing individuals thrive and flourish in the right environment.

Having travelled extensively, Melani settled in Hove in East Sussex with her husband and can be found walking by the beach with their chocolate Labrador most days. She is a mum to two young girls having had her youngest in 2020 (proper lockdown baby!) and is now juggling a busy life managing her own business with toddlers at her heels! Melani is excited to be joining Mentoring Circle and proud to be involved with such an inspired initiative in an industry she loves.
